Most people think of Mellieha purely as a swimming spot- with a long (for Malta) sandy beach and shelf which slopes gently into the sea. But, for the surfing community, Mellieha represents so much more. Catch it on a good day- when the wind is north/north-easterly and the swell is up- and it’s easily one of the best breaks on the island.
They may not be the most powerful waves in the world but it usually makes for a great fun surf, and its usually cleaner than most other spots along the coast. Parking is excellent- with plenty of spaces, and is ideal for beginners.
