If you’re a fan of reef breaks, Ghallis could be a great spot for you. Not one for beginners, Ghallis offers a clean left North of the hamlet of Bahar ic-Caghaq. You can park with no hassle, but entry to the water is a little more complicated. There is a jetty giving access, but you’ll want to paddle out wide to reach the break as the rocks are sharp and unforgiving.
Ghallis works best in off-shore winds- coming from the Northeast and, being situated on the coast road between the St Pauls Bay and Sliema areas, is easy to reach by public transport too. Don’t go expecting showers at most of Malta’s breaks, but you can at least get a sandwich and a coffee (or something stronger) from one of the cafes at Palm Beach around the bay.
